Applications are invited for the position of:

Assistant Superintendent

The East Central Alberta Catholic Schools Division invites applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent in Wainwright, Alberta. The Board is seeking a dynamic Catholic leader with integrity and vision who will work closely with the Superintendent and district team to achieve the goals of ECACS. The successful candidate will have varied opportunity to provide leadership for the division’s strategic plan, indigenous education, technology services, on-line education, home schooling, social media communications and maintenance infrastructure. Given that ECCS is a small school division, the successful applicant will also be involved in personnel management with certificated and non- certificated staff as well as other duties assigned by the Superintendent.

 

This position will maintain a close working relationship with the District Administrators to ensure coordination of efforts for effective teaching, learning and student performance.

 

The Division

East Central Alberta Catholic Schools:

  • Serves approximately 2400 students in east central Alberta in the communities of Wainwright, Vermilion, Provost, Castor and Stettler, with the division office centrally located in Wainwright

  • Offers four Pre-K programs, three elementary school programs, three K-12 programs, one outreach school, one outreach partnership and one online campus that educates students from all over the province.

  • Employs 120 teachers and 80 support staff who provide quality Catholic instruction to students from a variety of backgrounds.

 

The Candidate

Preference will be given to the candidate who:

  • is a Catholic visionary leader who actively participates in the Catholic faith

  • has graduated from a recognized and accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Education or equivalent

  • has at least five years of successful administrative experience. District office experience is a valuable asset

  • holds an Alberta Teaching Certificate and is eligible for full membership in CASS

  • has a proven record of making ethical and effective decisions to support student learning

  • exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • is a problem-solver, with the ability to mediate conflict and provide support to students, parents and staff through a relational approach

  • is skilled in analytical reasoning and strategic planning

  • has a broad knowledge of current educational trends and instructional methods

  • has experience utilizing data to improve student and staff performance

  • has successful experience in contract negotiations and human resource management

  • has technological abilities congruent with 21st century leadership

  • believes every student should achieve to the best of their ability

  • is able to keep their head when all about them people are losing theirs…
